Hello everyone Today we will give you a basic for thermal power plant. How it generates electrical energy from steam. Lets starts In thermal power plant we mainly have Boiler, Turbine, Coal handling plant and DM water plant. Boiler gets DM water and heats it to convert water in unsaturated steam by coal or oil. In boiler we have many control system like Burner Management system, Boiler protection system and many more control system like feedwater, Air control, Draft control system etc. With steam we rotates the turbine. This mechanical energy is converted into electrical energy through generator which is connected to turbine. This is the basic of thermal power plant working. Thanks.

In Thermal Power Plants we have Boiler in which we need to maintain the draft approx in between -10 to -15.  So the question is how to control the draft? The answer is we have Induced draft fan which suck out the flue gases and maintain the draft. ID Fan blade pitch controls the draft. We have fix set point say -10mmWC. If the furnace pressure increases towards positive side the blade pitch will start opening and if the furnace pressure goes towards negative pressure the blade pitch starts closing. This is how we control Furnace pressure. Thank you
